if done right that can be super scary in a play but i've seen attempts at it on stage that were pretty bad.

Ya it could have been better, but it was still pretty good for a high school production.

now let's stay on topic.....>.>...and yes!

i love poe's work. i love how all of his main characters are blank slates without any character developement. it's easier to insert your own ideas into the story that way.

i've read many of his writings and loved all but one. but i can't remember what it was called so i guess it's useless to mention it. but i will say that the dark and frightening nature of his writings is as attractive to me as "horror movies at midnight syndrome" [as i call it]: you're tired and easily sacred but you find a scary movie on and cant help but watch. but it is sad when you read a biography on him. i did one for school and his life was almost twice as dark as his writings. perhaps that was the fuel...actually i'll say it was. lol, he was the original emo.

Is it the one from Barnes & Noble? Because I have that one too, and I know it's missing at least one poem. It's a good one too.

No, it was from Borders.
Out of curiosity, though, what poem is yours missing?

It's called Alone. The poem was in a smaller compilation of his writings that I had, but I don't think it was in the "Complete Works" collection I bought. Here's how it goes:

Alone

From childhood's hour I have not been
As others were- I have not seen
As others saw- I could not bring
My passions from a common spring-
From the same source I have not taken
My sorrow- I could not awaken
My heart to joy at the same tone-
And all I lov'd- I lov'd alone-

Then- in my childhood- in the dawn
Of a most stormy life- was drawn
From ev'ry depth of good and ill
The mystery which binds me still-
From the torrent, or the fountain-
From the red cliff of the mountain-
From the sun that 'round me roll'd
In its autumn tint of gold-
From the lightning in the sky
As it passed me flying by-
From the thunder, and the storm-
And the cloud that took the form
(When all the rest of Heaven was blue)
Of a demon in my view.
